July 2026 – Minature Photo Shoot

July 2026 Photo Challenge: “Miniature Photo Shoot” Our second theme for July brought big creativity to tiny worlds with our Miniature Photo Shoot challenge! Our judges selected five outstanding entries, but one clever shot stood out as the best of the five selected. The best out of the five goes to PC Loo . Why It Stood Out:PC Loo’s photo is creative, nostalgic, and perfectly timed! Capturing liquid pouring straight into a tiny green Milo truck, this playful setup uses everyday elements to build a fun, imaginative story with flawless precision. The Five Selected Photos Congratulations to all five featured photographers for their amazing forced perspective and miniature storytelling:  PC Loo – Best out of the five selected! A brilliant, whimsical shot of a drink being poured into a miniature Milo truck.  Cheong Chee Kheong – A action-packed scene featuring a Spider-Man action figure scaling a wire mesh wall in front of a “BAHAYA” sign. Hee Sin Kiew – A dramatic forced-perspective shot of tiny figurine businessmen facing down an incoming gigantic shoe. July 2026 Photo Challenge Winner: “A Mesmerising Trip to Mersing” Our July challenge took us on A Mesmerising Trip to Mersing, and the entries perfectly captured the serene, breathtaking beauty of coastal landscapes and night skies. Out of all the incredible submissions, five photographs truly stood out to our judges. Among these extraordinary features, one astrophotography shot was chosen as the best out of the five selected. The best out of the five goes to Joanne Chew Why It Stood Out: Joanne’s photograph is pure magic. Perfectly framing the glowing core of the Milky Way directly above an illuminated coastal rock archway, this shot captures the true wonder of Mersing’s dark skies with stunning clarity and contrast. June 2026 – Theme Colorful

June 2026 – Theme Colourful Our community absolutely painted the town this month! The theme was Colorful, and your submissions transformed ordinary moments into an extraordinary, vivid celebration of life, light, and hue. From neon-lit nightscapes to boldly painted street murals, the sheer energy in every frame made this an incredibly tough round to judge. Out of all the brilliant entries, five photographs truly captured the essence of the theme, using color not just as an element, but as the main storyteller. One shot in particular stood out for its spectacular harmony of patterns, culture, and candid human interaction. Lin Meng Onn perfectly captured a slice of cultural street life frames within a modern, geometric mural that pops with intense blues, yellows, and pinks. The composition is brilliant—the bright green parasol anchors the right side of the frame, while the traditional patterns worn by the subjects echo the artistic complexity of the wall behind them. It’s vibrant, beautifully balanced, and tells a wonderful story of contemporary life meeting heritage. Chia Woon Kong – A brilliant, high-contrast street capture that relies heavily on a saturated red geometric structure, casting a dramatic hand shadow while pedestrians walk by. June 2026 Black and White The submissions for our June Photo Challenge absolutely blew us away. The theme was Black and White, and you all took to the streets to capture the raw, gritty, and beautifully candid moments of daily life. From striking reflections in hidden alleyways to powerful silhouettes against urban backdrops, the monochrome entries brought incredible depth and contrast. Out of all the incredible submissions, five photos stood out to our judges for their exceptional storytelling and composition. But there was one shot that captured the perfect, humorous spirit of street photography. The timing is immaculate—catching a passerby mid-stride right next to a massive, expressive piece of cartoon graffiti that looks like it’s shouting directly at him. Combined with the textured wall and the quiet, candid moment of a couple tucked into the doorway background, it tells a brilliant, multi-layered story of city life. Announcing the Winner & Finalists: June 2026 Thematic Challenge!We are incredibly excited to announce the results of our second thematic photo challenge for June 2026! Our members really stepped up to the plate, interpreting our theme—”May the Force Be With You”—with stunning creativity, technical skill, and emotional depth.From literal pop-culture homages to deeply moving depictions of spiritual and cultural power, the submissions for this challenge were some of the most impressive we’ve seen yet. While competition was extremely tight, one image truly embodied the spirit of the theme. The WinnerAllilcia Thau Allilcia’s winning photograph is a masterful work of drama and atmosphere. Her capture of a nocturnal Balinese Ogoh-ogoh parade, with the colossal demon float silhouetted against brilliant bursts of colourful smoke, is breathtaking. The juxtaposition of traditional reverence and dynamic modern energy perfectly interprets the theme, showing the force of a culture and community in motion.The Top FinalistsWe also want to celebrate the other four exceptional finalist photographs, which showcased incredibly diverse interpretations of the theme: Heng Yiktsay captured a moment of collective focus and spiritual energy at a temple in Tokyo. The dramatic lighting beautifully catches the rising incense smoke as hands reach out, conveying the silent force of faith and devotion. Jon Liang brought a playful and nostalgic spin to the theme with a striking, close-up perspective. By utilizing a tight depth of field, the shot isolates a detailed replica of Iron Man’s gauntlet, bringing a beloved cinematic force center stage. The intimate framing captures the interaction between a kavadi bearer and a devotee, highlighting the immense spiritual force and devotion that carries them through. May 2026 – A day in Sekinchan.

Announcing the Winner & Finalists of Our June 2026 Photo Challenge! We are thrilled to announce the results of our monthly photo challenge for June 2026! This month, our members turned their lenses toward the beautiful coastal town and lush landscapes for our theme: A Day in Sekinchan. From the shimmering, sun-drenched horizons of Redang Beach to the sprawling, vibrant paddy fields, the submissions beautifully captured the rustic charm, community spirit, and unique energy that defines the town. While competition was incredibly tough, these five selected photographs truly stood out. The Winner Mr.Sow Sew Seng His winning photograph perfectly encapsulates the idyllic and peaceful essence of Sekinchan. The contrast of two friends walking in matching white dresses alongside the vast paddy fields, with a tractor working under the open sky in the distance, brilliantly tells the story of a perfect afternoon spent in the countryside. We also want to celebrate the other four outstanding selected photographs that made the judging process so difficult. Each brought a completely unique perspective to the theme: Albert Low Captures a beautiful, candid family moment on the Sekinchan mudflats. The rich, golden sunset reflecting off the wet sand creates a warm, nostalgic atmosphere as children explore the shore. Harun Wahab A striking, high-contrast black-and-white shot that strips away color to focus entirely on texture and movement. It beautifully captures the silhouette of a child joyfully leaping across the shimmering, sunlit shoreline. Jon Liang A dynamic, low-angle wide shot filled with life at Redang Beach. By silhouetting the beachgoers and a parked bicycle against the bright afternoon sky, it perfectly conveys the bustling energy of a weekend getaway. Khor Hui Min An excellent documentary-style photograph showcasing Sekinchan’s agricultural heartbeat. It features a massive combine harvester deep at work cutting through the golden paddy fields under a sweeping blue sky. Our members stepped out into the field to document the beauty of labour, capturing powerful stories of dedication, craftsmanship, and hard work. From traditional artistry to heavy physical labour, these images beautifully highlight the human spirit behind everyday industries. Congratulations to Our Winner A massive congratulations to Chow YK! Chow’s winning photograph beautifully captures the delicate artistry of traditional umbrella painting. The contrast between the vivid, geometrically arranged umbrellas and the artisan focused on her craft creates a visually arresting narrative that perfectly embodies passion and lifelong dedication. Celebrating Our  Talented Participants  The competition was incredibly fierce, with each photographer bringing raw emotion and powerful storytelling to the frame. We are thrilled to share the incredible results of our recent photography collaboration between the Persatuan Fotografi Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur (PSPJ) and vivo! Participants were challenged to push the boundaries of mobile photography, capturing stunning, professional-grade portraits using only vivo mobile phones. David’s winning shot stood out for its masterful use of lighting, exceptional clarity, and gorgeous, ethereal atmosphere—perfectly highlighting how mobile photography can match the depth and mood of a professional studio setup. Mar 2026 – Hari Raya Celebrations

We are excited to reveal the winner of our March challenge, “Hari Raya Celebrations.” This theme invited our members to capture the spirit of Aidilfitri—from the warmth of family reunions and traditional finery to the vibrant festivities across our community. The Winner: Joanne Chew  A huge congratulations to Joanne Chew! Her winning photograph perfectly encapsulates the essence of the theme.
