Our community absolutely painted the town this month! The theme was Colorful, and your submissions transformed ordinary moments into an extraordinary, vivid celebration of life, light, and hue. From neon-lit nightscapes to boldly painted street murals, the sheer energy in every frame made this an incredibly tough round to judge.

Out of all the brilliant entries, five photographs truly captured the essence of the theme, using color not just as an element, but as the main storyteller. One shot in particular stood out for its spectacular harmony of patterns, culture, and candid human interaction.

Why We Loved It:

This image is an absolute festival for the eyes. Lin Meng Onn perfectly captured a slice of cultural street life frames within a modern, geometric mural that pops with intense blues, yellows, and pinks. The composition is brilliant—the bright green parasol anchors the right side of the frame, while the traditional patterns worn by the subjects echo the artistic complexity of the wall behind them. It’s vibrant, beautifully balanced, and tells a wonderful story of contemporary life meeting heritage.

The Top 5 Selected Finalists

Every single one of these finalists brought something completely unique to the table. Here are the five remarkable photographers and pieces that made our final selection:

• Lin Meng Onn – Our Challenge Winner! A masterclass in color coordination, blending the bright traditional attire of street subjects with a striking, geometric block mural.

• Albert Low – A playful and highly repetitive pattern piece featuring a wall completely covered in multicolored mailboxes labeled “Grateful Lane,” perfectly contrasted by a young child walking past.

• Chia Woon Kong – A brilliant, high-contrast street capture that relies heavily on a saturated red geometric structure, casting a dramatic hand shadow while pedestrians walk by.

• Harun Wahab – A stunning, luminous night shot featuring an intricate peacock light display that radiates brilliant purples, oranges, and greens, silhouetting a couple beneath it.

• Lin Meng Onn (Second Selection) – A powerful documentary-style street portrait framing two individuals passing a bold, red-dominated community mural, contrasting textures and textiles against painted art.
