Jan 2026 – The Spirit of the Horse

Galloping into the New Year: “The Spirit of the Horse” Showcase Results!

For our second photography outing, we took to the streets and malls to capture the energy of Chinese New Year. The theme was “The Spirit of the Horse,” and our community did not disappoint. From towering golden monuments to quiet, artistic details, these selections perfectly embody the power and grace of this year’s zodiac.

Our Featured Finalists

Before we announce our top pick, we want to celebrate four finalists who captured the festive atmosphere with incredible skill:

  • Mohd Oqba: For a dramatic, wide-angle perspective that perfectly bridges the gap between tradition and the modern world. The glowing lantern set against the soaring city skyline creates a powerful sense of scale.

  • K S Lim: For a clean, modern take on the theme. The geometric design of the rearing horse, surrounded by traditional clouds and florals, highlights the intersection of contemporary art and heritage.

  • Jason Wee: For capturing pure celebration. The golden horse soaring through red silks and shimmering lights feels like a captured moment of a festival in full swing.

  • Albert Low: For a beautifully artistic composition. By framing the floral-patterned horse through a soft haze of red bokeh, he created an intimate and dreamlike atmosphere.

The Grand Winner: Ariff Panadam

A huge congratulations to Ariff Panadam for taking the top spot! His winning shot is a brilliant example of storytelling through the lens. By capturing someone else documenting the vibrant, colorful horse statue, Ariff didn’t just photograph the subject—he photographed the experience of the festival. It’s a “meta” moment that perfectly captures how we share culture and joy in the modern age.

Winner - Ariff Panadam
